It from Bit
“It from Bit” refers to the hypothesis that the universe is informational at a fundamental level.
The term was coined by John Wheeler (also Richard Feynman’s Doctoral Adviser).
Whether the concept is a reflection of our time much as the Clock Work Universe mirrored the Age of Enlightenment is too early to judge.
As a computer scientist it’s hard not to be inspired by ideas where information plays such a central role.
At a simplistic level, the Delayed Choice Experiment does have echoes of lazy evaluation, debugging a system can affect the outcome and a program running slowly or fast seems to me to be a good analogy for small steps on earth and giant leaps on the moon.
